Advancing National Internet Peering in Uganda
The Uganda NIPX Awareness and Engagement Workshop is organized by NITA-U in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT.
The workshop aims to achieve the following strategic and technical objectives:
• Build trust among peering partners and encourage domestic route origination
• Enhance peer participation across the National IP Peering Exchange (NIPX) Uganda’s internet
exchange infrastructure
• Provide technical deep dives on peering, BGP security, and IXP usage
- Offer live portal demonstrations and onboarding support for new participants
- Include representatives from ISPs, universities, govtech agencies, and CDNs
- Distribute documentation packs covering Peering Policy, Acceptable Use, and Security Guidelines
- Strengthen Uganda’s IP Core Network Expansion and advance digital infrastructure
- Discuss the proposed management, ownership and operational model of the NIPX
